Artist description
Jazz Artist and Composer, Adam Larson, has been playing saxophone since 5th grade. Since then, Larson has garnered numerous awards that showcase both his abilities as a soloist and as a composer. Recently, Adam was selected to play in the 2008 Gibson/Baldwin Grammy Jazz Ensemble. He has also been awarded best Jazz Composition and Improvisation for both the 2006-2007 and 2007-2008 Illinois All-State Composition Contest, and was a member of the 2007 Illinois All-State Honors Jazz Combo. In addition Larson was recently selected as a member of the 2007 Monterey Jazz Festival Next Generation Jazz Orchestra, 2007 Inaugural Jazz Band of America, and was 1 of 15 invitees to the 2007 Jazz Rising Stars Program at the Steans Institute for Young Artists invitation only workshop at Ravinia, in Chicago,IL. Larson has had the privilege to work with James Moody, Rufus Reid, Jim Mcneely, Billy Childs, Matt Wilson, Terrance Blanchard, Nathan Davis, Wynton Marsalis, and many others. Currently, Larson studies privately with Dr. David N. Baker.

Adam Larson Quartet - Adam Leads his own Jazz Quartet backed by the areas top jazz players. You can catch them at selected venues and events in Central Illinois, as well as at your own private functions. Check Schedule  for more on where you can hear this group. 

Adam Larson "Groove" Quintet The newest addition to Adam's performance collective is the 5-piece "Groove" Ensemble. Adam's Quartet adds a guitarist  and performs covers by The Brecker Brothers, Spyro Gyra, Yellowjackets and other contemporary groups, as well as throwing in some fresh originals by Adam and the band. Adam Larson "Not So Big Band" - In 2005, Adam launches his first big band vehicle with this 10-piece swing and variety ensemble comprised of the area's best jazz instrumentalists. 

Adam Larson/Solo Act - Adam has been entertaining thousands of people in the past three years with his "one man band" solo act. 

Illinois Central "Jazz Train" Orchestra - Adam and his father John are charter members of the "Jazz Train Orchestra" - an artist ensemble in residence at Illinois Central College in East Peoria, IL. The group, under the direction of Central Illinois Jazz legend Larry Harms, includes many notable jazz performers from throughout Central Illinois including Dave Hoffman, Dick Garretson,  Harlan Geiser and Trefan Owen.  Catch their performances as part of the ICC concert series.
